A DNS server is a computer that is registered in the Domain Name System (DNS). The DNS server has a public IP address and runs special software that allows it to connect to other networks. The DNS server will host other network names and addresses for other Internet hosts. This technology manages Web sites and Internet domains. The World Wide Web works by connecting a host of DNS servers that host the Web sites of various companies, organizations or individuals.
